My first full time job was working in a bakery. My second was selling trainers. My third was as an advertising copywriter. A junior Mad Man in the West Midlands.
It seems an age ago that I learned my trade, encouraged by senior copywriter John Rooney, a Glaswegian who shared my horse-racing fixation and went on to win a Scottish BAFTA for his comedy-drama series High Times. I’ve continued to write advertising copy most of my adult life. Why? Because it pays, of course. But that’s not the only reason. I love the intellectual exercise of finding the perfect combination of words to sell a product or service.
Over the years I’ve worked on everything from print campaigns to corporate videos for tech giants. For international publishing houses like OUP to agencies such as Ogilvy Primary Contact, Redwood, and You Agency. I’ve written copy for clients ranging from Dom Pérignon, DHL and Dimension Data to Canon Cameras, Tarmac Construction, Zanussi and Electrolux.
Here are a few examples of my work. If you ever want any copy writing, just email me at [email protected]
